Stereotypes

This feature is usually based on stereotypes that I am fond of. Today, however I cannot seem to make up my mind about this particular stereotype.

'Blackface'

Did you laugh? I thought the sketch was hilarious. But at the same time there are obvious undertones which I take offence to. First of all, Blackface is offensive full stop. It is the most blatant form of mocking people of colour in the most 'innocent' way. At the end of the day, Blackface is an implicit form of racism that people know they can get away with. Which actually makes it more of an insult. Whoever disagrees can easily be convinced otherwise with the help of a steady backhand to the face and a fury of uppercuts to the gut.

Hmmmm!

I have always thought that if you cant laugh at an intended joke then you take life too seriously, but then again me and "Yo Mama" jokes do not go down, Period! So...there are two sides to every joke, the funny side and the offensive side. But where does one draw the line? I really cannot decide which part Shirley Q Liquor falls into. She has the best of both. Its so funny because its so offensive.
