Stereotypes

Remember the furore about how the original song 'Black boys' by Bashy was racist!?

Funk That!!!

While I can understand how one may deem this track so - Yes! you might think the song embraces the idea of empowerment through segregation. *Nods Head* **Disapprovingly** I would say to anyone who thinks this to listen beyond the chorus and pay attention to the lyrics and the artists reasoning behind the song. Its about getting rid of the notion that there are no role models for black males and eliminating the negative stereotypes created by the predatory media - i mean - how often do you read or hear anything positive in the news about Black kids- as a black male it seems that everything in the media about the ethnic youth is negative, condescending and uninspiring.

That's the whole point of this remix - its flipping the script and reiterating the fact that there are plenty of positive things about the so called "urban" youth. The funny thing is that even we try and be positive we get shut down, but then again we don't die mayne! We multiply mayne!
