Stereotypes

Remember the furore about how the original song 'Black boys' by Bashy was racist!?

Funk That!!!

While I can understand how one may deem this track so - Yes! you might think the song embraces the idea of empowerment through segregation. *Nods Head* **Disapprovingly** I would say to anyone who thinks this to listen beyond the chorus and pay attention to the lyrics and the artists reasoning behind the song. Its about getting rid of the notion that there are no role models for black males and eliminating the negative stereotypes created by the predatory media - i mean - how often do you read or hear anything positive in the news about Black kids- as a black male it seems that everything in the media about the ethnic youth is negative, condescending and uninspiring.

That's the whole point of this remix - its flipping the script and reiterating the fact that there are plenty of positive things about the so called "urban" youth. The funny thing is that even we try and be positive we get shut down, but then again we don't die mayne! We multiply mayne!

Inspiration Information

What is it about our inability to say "NO" to social networking sites!? I am going to save the spiel about how they are totally unsociable, time wasting and just another excuse for mass marketing and capitalist consumption. If you really think about it 90% of the friends you have on these so called networking sites only exist at the click of a button. In other words they don't exist in your reality. Who cares - everything has it pros and cons right!? That's were Skateboard P comes in. Pharell has set up yet another social networking site called Le HeyWire Gallery . This "social networking" interweb is directed mainly at artists of all genres - whether it be graphic designers, illustrators, photographers or musicians. On first impressions it is a supermegacool source for inspiration information, so have a peeeeeeek!

Monday Blues!?

Monday is back again and I bet yous are wondering how the hell the weekend lounging hours came and went by so quickly!? Me No know, but What I do know is that in a blink of an eye Friday will be back again and you will be back on the screw juice!! Anyhow, I'm dedicating these songs to all of yous. To my fellow nineties kids who remember boppin' to Arrested Development in the golden era of hip hop. In the days when you would sit by the T.V with the VHS tape recorder remote in your perspiring palms, patiently waiting for your que to push the red button when your favorite tune finally gets some air play. And to all the Nu-generation of hip-bop enthusiasts who feel like they missed out on the VCR days - Fret not young'uns - here is an updated version of the song by Musiq SoulChild and home grown uber-talent Estelle. Enjoy!!

Bag Ladies

Independent Ladieees with the crackberry/i phone might wanna get their hands on one of these. Ze Blackberry/iPhone Gold Python Purses. From a male perspective, cute handbags kinda imply that a feline feminine isnt carrying too much baggage [mentaly/metaphorically speaking - how ever you wanna see it]. That is until you find out what exactly she carring inside it. Anyhow, this would be a good look for 2wo reasons: Firstly, it has an inbuilt Scrub proximity mine, disposing of all wastemen thus leaving only the most eligible bachelors in sight. True This! Secondly, its also available in a chic-cream, if you are looking for something a little less Bling Bloaaaw. They are priced at a cheeky £195 and are available from my guy Billy. Contact him at bill@thecoolhunter.co.uk

As for females who are not feeling 100% about their body shape. Protruding FUPA perhaps!? You should Mos Def-inately invest in one of these. Let it be known that most dudes kinda like a ickle bit of FUPA tho. Keeps dude warm at night!

Junior Swagger

Over the half term My 11 year old cousin Demi came to stay with we for a couple of days.
I took the opportunity to get to know what was going on inside the head of this budding super champ. Its always nice to make as much time as possible for young'uns, firstly because time flies too quickly and before you know it they are grown men and you have missed out on their wonder years. Secondly as cliche tells yous, The young are ze future.
Anyhoot,
Since Dnæ Genes was launched, he had always been fascinated by the logistics of the company. So while he was staying he side kicked it on a couple of business errands and we showed him how a few things worked. He repaid the gesture by entertaining us all day and most important of all inspiring us to do more. He has always wanted to be a part of the Dnæ Genes team so here he is.

How you doing champ!? Lets get cracking and show the world how special you really are. First things first. What does water taste like!?

Demi - Huh!? What do you mean!? Water tastes like the base liquid of all fluids! I guess.

Whoooooa! Someone is a bit sharp today!?

Demi- I'm sharp everyday!

You talk too much for someone your size. - Second question, If your special power wasn't your ability to talk for days without a pause, what would it be!?

Demi - Hehe. Erm, my special power would the ability to draw something and then bring it straight to life from paper.

Nice! Can you draw a lady with a cute dimpled smile and big bum buns for me. I would like one of them please.

Demi - You are nasty.

Give it 3 years and you will be thinking the same thing. Ask your biology teacher. Next question - what is your favorite subject at school and why!?

Demi - Art! because, I enjoy being creative and I love to draw. Mum and Dad don't like that I like Art though. They are always talking about science and maths.

Tell them Art is Maths and Science but its just a little too advanced for them to understand.

Demi - I would probably get a slap but it would definitely be worth it.

What do you want to be when you grow up!?

Demi - A fashion designer.

Im going to ask you that question again. This time I would like you to answer it like your dad asked you.

Demi - Chuckling - I would like to be a NASA Space suit engineer/designer! Hehe.

You have jokes. Okay lets wrap things up. Share something with the world, it could be anything, a quote, a joke, a song. Anything!

Demi - I would like to dedicate Chamilionaire - Hip Hop Police to the world.

You have been singing that all day. Its wack!!!! Dedicate something else please. No one is interested in Chamilionaire. He has nothing interesting to say.

Demi - No he isn't, everyone at school loves him. I will dedicate my 'Element Squad' drawing to the world then. Also, everyone should watch Happy Tree Friends. Its super dooper funny!

Look out for Demi in a future near you!
