Inspiration Information

I bought this copy of Look magazine from a vintage shop on a recent visit to California [peep Mr made of codes for some visuals from the Californian escapade]. It is an original version of the March issue from 1965. The irony is that round the corner across the street you could buy the latest copy of Rolling Stone magazine...

Basically, the fourty-three-year-long-story-cut-short, says that anything we dream of is possible. Its just a matter of hard graft, time and a bit of luck. Time consumes everything, but most significant of all time accommodates for change. Good changes! I am not just talking about changes in social attitudes towards race - this is just an example - I am talking about positive changes in general. So don't let a fool, fool you into believing you can never archive your dreams! Its not where you start its where you finish!

I will tell you all a bit more about my American cultural higher learning another time. In meantime be easy!!

On a "lighter" note, it looks like

Friday Throwback

Boys, Boys, Boys!!! don't you remember your exact location when you peeped Christina Aguilera's Dirty video for the first time!? Me!?
I was at school - It was just before lunchtime roll call and I refused to get up for ten minutes after Christina was done messing with my hormones. Well Ms Aguilera wasn't the first lady to make every school boy on the planet shake at the knees and unknowingly pitch tent midway through the History lesson.

Sabrina Salerno was the pioneer "spank me" music vids in the eighties. She was probably also the first lady in history to bless all the boys with some sneaky bare nipple action before the watershed. Again one could swear they could remember their exact longitudinal/latitudinal position when their eyes first met Sabrina's ode to the summertime - but then that would mean that I got my horn on before I could walk...

Black Spade

The future of Hip Hop is here. With the recent furore over Kayne's Wests gassed up comments about the "true" definition of Hip Hop - whatever your definitions might be - Black Spade is here to entertain you with some fresh bass lines for your speaker box. His authentic interpretation of the apparently ailing genre we call Hip Hop only reiterates Kayne's comments - the fact that Hip Hop is all about switching it up and bringing' something new, captivating and original. Hear him out this Thursdays at Cargo.

Just Getting Warmer!?

To be frank, I have not paid any mind to the Global Warming issue, which is pretty careless, considering the fact that it is probably the most important topic we are facing on the global political agenda. This just goes to show that much of our generation seems to ignore the importance of the "imminent threat" our daily economic actions is having on the future [apparently]. As responsible twenty-somethings of tomorrow, I thinks its time we started to edu-macate ourselves about the "global warming" phenomena. Are things really as bad as the scientists say???

To all the fraudulent-hipster kids who think they gully because they wear the latest regurgitated "Hype" Beast Kicks and the "New" NewEra tilted to the skies, but who are really all shook up the second they step out of their [oblivious] suburban bubble and make eye contact with an unfamiliar colored face. Stereotypes...

that we like.

It's been a while since we last did one of these! I love everything about this clip - the comedians swaggR, his gruff stereotypical tone, his part-time polka dot pseudo-tweed, the unrepentant chunk of a lady and her loyal companion. But best of all is the moral of the mini story...

F.Y.I

95,000 new weblogs are created every day.
In the past three years, the size of the "blogosphere"
has increased sixty-fold.
It currently doubles in size every five and a half months.
But the only blog you really need to worry
about is the one you are reading
right now!

Designed To Fool You

Funny How Naomi goes from "No Logo" to being a brand of her own. I'm not entirely convinced by the whole conspiracy theory "theory" the only conspiracy is the need to make "The Benjamin's" and for poli-chickens to stay in power for as long as possible. But if people are too stupid to see the obvious then I guess you will have to pen a paper-back based on some sort of theory in order to convince the masses...

Photo of The Day.. Every Day

A picture is worth a thousand words.

6,697 Polaroids are worth a lifetime.

When he was 22 years old, on March 31st 1979, James Livingston took a Polaroid of two girls. He then took a photo every day of his life until the day he died.

Using only a Polaroid SX-70 camera and a healthy appetite for documentation, James created a trip that takes us through the everyday, the fabulous, the tragic and the downright blurry and banal.

Lest you forget that such moments are what make up life, take a look at this:

Photo of The Day

The life of a photographer, filmmaker, musician and towards the end, husband, (see 5th October 1997) encapsulated in almost two decades of Polaroids.

There is a montage on YouTube, but have a butcher’s at the website, it’s far more revealing. (Plus, it’s not set to Coldplay.)

Dear Summer

One hears this song and it immediately conjures up visuals of a perfect lazy summers afternoon; bronze skies, wind kissed jerry curls and sun blushed cheeks. Cruise control in the favorite classic convertible, a Sade-like female "by your side" and the nonchalant summer feeling you get when the sun squints through your windscreen into your privileged eyes. Behold; the fantastical summer!
But Nah!
Back to reality, its Tuesday, you feel lazy, but you have silly amounts of work, there is no sign of the sun, nor the silent summer breeze, nor the lady.
Put a record on!
"Electric Feel" is the new undisputed champion ode to the summer.
We have the song but now we patiently await the weather...
