Marlene Dumas' emotive paintings about beautiful women and lust conjure up emotions relating to existential despair. Her works are kinda like the feminized/sexualized counterparts to Francis Bacon's art. Eye ain't no art critic but that's what eye sees. What do you sees?

Tick Tock
Sublime film by director David Wilson (Blink) for Moray McLaren and his song 'We Got Time'.
Everything was done using praxinoscopes (a pre-cinema animation tool) and no computer super-imposing was used; everything you see was done in camera. In addition, all of the illustrations were created by the director.
In short, this is some seriously technical shit, and it blows my mind every time I watch it.
If you really want to geek out, here's the 'making of' film. Turns out that David Wilson is basically a massive brain with a camera attached to it:
Love it.

Swine Influenza Yo!
"I think I may have swine flu. I have a serious craving for donuts, pancake syrup and fried chicken and I'm convinced I can fly."
Symptoms include fever, disorientation, stiffness of the joints, vomiting, and loss of consciousness ending in death. Well "you gotta have the feva for summat" - most of us are packing stiffy's at the man-joint regularly and I'm not conscious of our apparent "reality" 99.9% of the time either. No vomiting yet but, if you believe the hype, then half of us are already fuct. They are just trying to scare you, I hope you ain't scared yo!

James Jarvis was one of the driving forces behind the design toy craze in the UK. At first, his illustrations were brought to life in tangible toytown glory by Silas, but they were so successful that Jarvis decided to start his own company - Amos Toys.
This week, he has released a new animation that he has done in collaboration with Nike featuring one of his well-loved characters running through a non-linear environment. In his own words:
“I had become interested in the idea of characters that were less referential and more iconic and abstract. I particularly wanted to do something with a potato-headed stick-man that I had been drawing at that time. The film was inspired by certain personal experiences in running – a favourite run over Blanchland moor in Northumberland, being attacked by a crow in Singapore – and also by the transcendent, almost psychedelic experience of the simple act of running. Rather than a marketing project inititated by Nike, the film was something proposed and produced by myself, and as such I hope represents a much more equal collaboration with a brand.”
One of the most engaging pieces of animation I've seen in a while. Check it out:

The Age Of Stupid
What is climate change? Is it real or just a conspiracy theory we all willing to prove right by our indifference and inaction?? What is the worst that could happen with all this climate change/global warming malarkey??
Should we really care?? [Common sense is the only answer to a rhetorical question.]
Assuming you don't already, our generation needs to address the issue of climate change a lot more seriously and not just because this is the first time climate change has ever been brought up on here...
Should we really care?? [Common sense is the only answer to a rhetorical question.]
Assuming you don't already, our generation needs to address the issue of climate change a lot more seriously and not just because this is the first time climate change has ever been brought up on here...
The Age of Stupid, directed by Franny Armstrong depicts the life of a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055, looking at old footage from 2008 and asking: why didn’t we stop climate change when we had the chance?

A favorite throwback documentary released sometime in Zero7 - directed by Kevin Fitzgelard, the film traces the roots of Hip Hop in its rawest form, 'The Freestyle'. Exploring and developing on some ideas one might not immediately associate as a historical backdrop for the artfrom. A must watch with some priceless footage of some of the greatest lyricists [MosDef/Black Thought/Christophe Wallace] of our time - from a time when you and I knew nothing of their existence.

Kitsune: The Fox
My 2nd favorite 4our legged animal [after the spirited horse - of course, of course]
Personally, the fox symbolises the 'outsider' who prefers to exist in discreet anonymity, as opposed to the 'outsider' who craves attention and the need to be recognized and noticed. At some point in the future, regardless of the fact that foxes rarely intermingle with humans, eye would like to keep a lead of foxes as domestic pets, just for their "look mummy, no hands" fish catching skills. Deep!

Mo Money, Mo Problems

Exiled journalists from The Zimbabwean Newspaper have brought a whole new meaning to the notorious words of Christoper Wallace. In an attempt to raise awareness of the Zimbabwean tragedy that is President Mugabe, the journalists have a launched an awareness ad campaign to encourage more sales of the paper by printing their flyers/billboard Ads on the Z$100 trillion dollar - reiterating that it is cheaper to print on the Zimbabwean dollar than it is on paper.

Is it much to admit I need
A solid soul and the blood I bleed
With a little girl, and by my spouse
I only want a proper house
I don't care for fancy things
Or to take part in a precious race
And children cry for the one who has
A real big heart and a father's grace
I don't mean to seem like I care about material things like a social status
I just want four walls and adobe slabs for my girls.

Big On Lazy Assumptions

A part of me wanted to keep this to myself, but it burns...
Also I feel its would be extremely shallow to talk of all that is touched on this site and ignore issues of substance which are more important.
We need to understand that it is no over-exaggeration when it is said that Black males are specifically targeted by the police. For instance I am stopped by the police on average twice a month, whether I am driving, on two wheels or on my own two feet. I am stopped on suspicion of clandestine activity purely because of the colour of my skin. Even Louis Braille could see this fact. I prefer not to whine on about harassment from the Police because eye believe its better not to complain but to accept every situation that one is placed in. However, the only way one can change these situations is by the way one reacts to them. So, this is my reaction. Hopefully, it will bring some sort of positive change to other people put in similar situations.
So yuh! - The police stopped me. This is the how the dialogue went. The names change but the words remain the same.
Undercover PIG: We just received some information from our sources that there is a black male who fits your description driving around the neighborhood selling drugs in a similar car.
Interplanetarian: [Eye balling the undercover pig. HARD!!] Surprise Surprise! Well didn't your sources give you a number plate, because I would be very stooooooopid to be dealing drugs in broad daylight - especially with my old man sitting right next to me.
Undercover PIG: [Speaking to sidekick undercover PIG] We have a comedian here!
Interplanetarian: No comedian, but a "black" man cruising in a car in a relatively nice neighborhood, who you automatically assume is selling drugs. By the way, you guys stop me more than regularly and you accuse me of the same thing every-time. The Met Police are given a specific script to follow when it comes to dialogue with young black males right?
Undercover PIG: [Raising Voice/Proceeding to take the key out of the Ignition of my vehicle] So are you saying that I am racist?? - You are extremely close to being arrested.
Interplanetarian: Huh?! So it's a crime to give my opinion but it's fine for you to stop me on the basis of your opinion that all young black males are drug dealers - and no I was not insinuating you were racist, I was suggesting you were bordering on ignorant.
Undercover PIG: [Shouting] RIGHT, YOU OBVIOUSLY WANT TO LEAVE HERE IN THE BACK OF MY CAR, CALLING ME IGNORANT.
Interplanetarian: [Calmly] Actually, I said you were bordering on ignorant and please don't raise your voice, you are supposed to have this under control. You couldn't rile me up if I gave you my buttons.
Undercover PIG: You are obviously a clever man, but not very street wise. We are only doing our job.

Interplanetarian: [Laughing] You have no clue. Do your job, do a check and let me be on my way.
Undercover PIG: You will stay here until I let you go.
So obviously the PIG let me go in the end. One can see that he tried to get an agressive reaction from me on so many occasions so as to give him a reason to decorate my wrists with some silver "BLING" rings - but PIGS don't know, I'm always three steps ahead of them. They have stopped me that many times. I have even been arrested and thrown behind bars once upon a time, but that's another story.
Anyway, to all my dudes who get stopped by the PIGS - it's more constructive not to react like your instincts want you to. Be calm - because the second you lose your temper, you lose - and that's exactly what the PIGS want you to do. Also, lets face it, a young black male being aggressive to the police in public always looks "criminal". Its just the way the media has set up the stage for us. So chill, don't be another innocent statistic criminalized for aggressively protesting your innocence. Bring things down a level so a PIG will understand.
